Free drinks for sober drivers

Nicosia: Dimitris Dimitriu, director of the traffic police headquarters, spoke at a press conference yesterday: Police will facilitate cooperation with nightclub owners so that all the “sober drivers of the company” can enjoy absolutely free drinks, provided, of course, that they are not alcoholic. According to the new plan, the police hopes that the number of accidents may be reduced due to the consumption of alcohol by drivers. At the same event, the message of the Minister of Communications and Public Works Tassos Mitsopoulos was read out, stating that the Traffic Security Council decided to accept the recommendations of European partners to sharply reduce the permissible alcohol limit for novice drivers, motorcyclists, truck drivers, buses and taxis. The draft law has already been submitted to parliament.
